General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) - Diploma in Nursing
Aim
  • To prepare nurses with a sound educational programme in nursing to enable them to function as efficient members of the health team, beginning with the competencies for the first level positions in all kinds of health care settings.
  • To help nurses develop an ability to co-operate and co-ordinate with members of the health team in the prevention of disease, promotion of health and rehabilitation of the sick.
  • To help nurses in their personal and professional development, so that they are able to make maximum contribution to the society as useful and productive individuals, citizens as well as efficient nurses.
  • To serve as a base for further professional education and specialization in nursing.
  • To prepare nurses to keep pace with latest professional and technological developments and use these for providing nursing care service.
Eligibility
  • Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively
  • Have passed 10+2 Class preferably science (PCB) & aggregate of 40% marks.
  • 10+2 in Arts ( Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History,Geography,BusinessStudies,Accountancy,HomeScience,Sociology,Psychology,Philosophy and core/English Elective or Health care science-vocational stream only.
  • Passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent board with 40% marks.
  • Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government.
  • Registered ANM with State Nursing Registration Council
  • 10+2 vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
  • 10+2 Health care Science – Vocational stream from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
  • For Foreign Nationals: The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above
  • For Disabled Candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing programme.of 40% to 50%.
  • 5% is relaxed for SC/ST candidates
  • Any other quotas as per the State Govt. under the reservation policy
  • Be medically fit

Note: Quotas shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats sanctioned and not above it.

Duration

✓ 3.5  Year Duration diploma course

✓ Minimum age 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year, Maximum age 35 years.

✓ Passed higher secondary examination (Physics,Chemistry & Biology) with aggregate of 40% Marks or ANA training

✓ General – 40% & SC/ST 35%
